Anyone go from IB associate to a venture fund?

It seems like all the roles are looking for an "analyst or associate", which seems to imply an associate would come in at the same level as an analyst would. Does that mean it's not possible to monetize your incremental experience as an associate (in terms of compensation, title and maybe having a direct report)?

It doesn't work like that. It's very hard to break into VC as a banking associate, because at that point you are overqualified to be a VC associate but underqualified to be a VP/principal. The 3 most common ways to break into VC are 1) directly out of a banking, consulting, or PM role (2-3 years after undergrad), 2) out of HBS or Stanford GSB, or 3) as a partner after being a senior exec or successful founder. You will either have to be OK taking a step back, or try to orient your career to paths 2 or 3.
