Anyone have a Peloton? Thoughts?
Thinking about purchasing a Peloton because it'll get me to exercise but obviously $2,000 is a lot of money. Anyone currently have one and recommend I go for it?

Career Resources
I've had one about 2 years now, we think its worth it (there are two of us here though). For me its two things that make it great: 1) the ability for me to roll out of bed, straight onto the peloton, and be finished with a 20 minute ride literally 21 minutes after ive woken up. I literally just get on the bike in a pair of shorts, no time spent getting ready etc etc. 2) the weather... i find it very hard to get the motivation to go for a run early in the morning in the winter... nice to be able to do cardio in the heated flat lol.
Both points definitely resonate. I really don't like spending exorbitant amounts of money on anything and I'm sure I'm paying a premium for the brand, but I'm terrified of the health path that I'm currently on with sitting at a desk all day and eating takeout every night bc it's free. Pushups bore me and I hate running so I feel like this might be worth it - and maybe I shouldn't put a price on my health.
My girlfriend was able to do a trial ride in the store prior to us ordering it (in a little curtained off area etc) and then even when we bought mine there was a 30 day no questions asked return policy... might be worth checking that out.
The monthly subscription i think is 40 quid a month. So for the two of us is 20 each per month. Compared to central london gym memberships that is very low. I use the bike probably 3 times a week, my girlfriend uses it probably 4-5 times a week and she also uses a bunch of the other classes (there are heaps of peloton yoga/pilates etc etc that she streams onto the living room tv).
To us it comes down to this: we have exercised a lot more in the past 2 years now that we have had it than in the years before (and we had gym memberships etc in that time), 20 quid a month to me is a small cost if it means I'm actually getting exercise I otherwise wouldn't get.
As far as costs go... the upfront is pretty hefty yes, but the bike is very good quality. I'm very much the sort of person that would prefer to just buy the best now, not try to get a bargain at first with a similar product and then regret it later on. I understand the 2000 quid might be a lot of if you're early in your career, in that case maybe one of the cheaper options might be a good idea.

A lot of people I know bought one and so far reviews have been mixed. The truth is that it's more of a discipline aid because many people struggle to or get bored exercising alone. The notion of being together with others is a big ego booster and helps get the workout done, but I still don't think it's justified in the price. If you don't have that problem, there are plenty of bikes coming in at way less from brands such as Schwinn, Echelon or Sunny Health & Fitness. And even if you do have that problem, you can always listen to music, FaceTime friends, watch something on your phone/iPad so it's not as boring. All the brands named above come in at less than $600. Pretty hard to justify a $1,400 premium just to have a fitness model shout "Good Job!" at you from a screen. Same with the Tread - it's just ridiculous.
Bottom line is that if you have $2,000 to burn then go for it. But with that money you can pretty much kit out an entire home workout studio with another bike, weights, bands and much more equipment.
I received one as a gift, and while I've liked it I definitely haven't liked it enough to justify dropping $2k of my own money on it. If you're in NYC I'd just recommend spending that money on an Equinox membership. I think an Equinox membership is a much better use of your money than a Peloton and the complimentary classes will definitely help motivate you to exercise.
So you don’t think the convenience of having it in your apartment/house is a valid enough reason? I think getting myself to even get to an Equinox, especially given the rigors of this job, is a tall task
Have you thought about a rower? It's more of "full body" type workout than the stationary bike would be, and might take a bit more effort to get proper form down, but I've found it to be a great aerobic exercise tool. Also can pick up a quality one (Rogue Concept 2) for less than 1/2 the price of a Peloton.
I purchased one and I love it. I think the time of classes - being able to do 15 min spin classes and still get a sweat in is great, as well as monthly cost (financed at 0% APR) being ~$100/$75 lower than an unlimited spin class, are the best part. Additionally, no cancellation fees and being able to do it at 12am if needed.
I can’t fathom spending $2k upfront plus a monthly fee for classes. The whole advantage of at home equipment is you don’t pay in perpetuity like a gym membership.
I absolutely hate running. Will not do it. Have always enjoyed biking and when I would do cardio at the gym a stationary bike would be my choice. The Peloton is awesome. The bike itself is super nice, not surprising for $2k+. The classes are great and having access to thousands of rides is great. You will never get “bored” with it or have it feel super repetitive. It’s a good looking bike too so you wont need to hide it when you arent using it. If you have $2k+ that you want to spend on something, I would say go for it. I don’t think I ever did cardio in college because I hated it so much and now I happily peloton 3+ times a week. The membership to use the classes is $40/mo as well so keep that in mind and you will also need to purchase shoes.
Just cold call jefferies analysts and they'll let you know
Stupid for anyone willing to spend 5 minutes on YouTube for free biking classes.
Also, I personally like assault bikes. Peloton bike is just marketing and feeding into peoples justification that it'll make you exercise more……
How about paying $20 a session with a personal trainer or something and getting better results. Or better yet get a normal ass bike for $600 and tell me you ain't gonna use it a few times at least. As far as everyone saying it keeps them consistent that's because gyms were closed and they haven't had it for more than a year. High usage post purchase is common for all exercise equipment and the peloton isn't magic.
Also just Google hiit workouts and do those. I know you might jot be motivated to blah blah blah but $2k is so much money for that like cmon… and a monthly fee??? Bruhhhhhhhhhhh I hate it I just hate it but congrats on their success. I guess.
