Anyone put unusual stuff under Interest section of Resume?

Hey...updating my resume and wondering if anyone has successfully used the interests section of the resume to showcase a sense of humor, or maybe a sense of maturity? Or is that too dangerous and should it just be kept clean and dry?

Much greater risk than reward.

I work at an MBB firm, and generally being a little (not too much) out of the box with interests is a positive. One of our interviewees last year put "Can rap" or something on her resume. The partner interviewing made her do it. Apparently she wasn't kidding, we hired her (that kind of thing indicates good fit!).

Magnets.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

It's fine. Just use common sense and don't write anything that might be considered offensive. Speaking from personal experience, things along the lines of pyrotechnics are fine. Exotic dancing, probably not.

Many interviewers are looking at your resume for the first time and it's good to have something jump out.

Just put "cocaine, alcoholism, women with low self esteem, moral depravity, money" under interests, youll for sure get the offer

Haha that's unique

I have skeet and clay shooting and home beer brewing under my interests. I often get a lot of questions about the beer -- people seem to respond well to it.

"They are all former investment bankers that were laid off in the economic collapse that Nancy Pelosi caused. They have no marketable skills, but by God they work hard."

I have hunting on mine, and at my current role that's what got me the job. Interviewer (and current boss) is an avid hunter and we spent most of the interview talking about pheasant hunting and sharing sausage recipes. It paid off for me as the companies a pretty old school O&G show. ie. take a walk through the salesmen floor and all you see are stuffed cougars, bear skulls, trout mounted on plaques and beer fridges.
