Apartments in SF?

So I'll be starting my analyst stint next summer and wanted to get some feedback on good areas to live in the city. If you know specific apt buildings, that would be awesome. Also, info on average price per room would be great as well. So far I've heard the Marina is good. Any info will help, thanks.

as a 1st year analyst would consider

soma - close to financial district, newest apartments, built on reclaimed land, no culture / food nob / russian hill - close to financial district, older style apartments, hilly walk to work north beach - closish to financial district, older style apartments, lots of food etc. marina - young people, very white, far from financial district, food, drink widely available

Agree with aranaxon.

My take: North Beach is best for social life, walking distance to everything. SoMa (South of Market) is really nice, but really expensive and has no culture.

Price per room is at least $1500 with SoMa being $2k+ unless you go farther South where it gets cheaper.
