App That Lets You Rate People Is Hitting College Campus'

What Would You Say If Every Partner (One-Night or Other) Instantly Rated You Online?

Tinder.

You've probably heard about it, If you saw The Social Network, you might remember "Face Mash," the product Mark Zuckerberg made before Facebook. Tinder is basically a quick game of local "Hot or Not".

But, this isn't about Tinder, this is about it's rival app, LuLu.

LuLu is fashioned after Tinder, but it's designed exclusively for women. In order to login to view/rate people, you MUST be a women with a Facebook account to get validated in to rate and rank any man with a Facebook profile.

The woman searches for the man and adds him to the application’s database. You have no choice in the matter, and you are not alerted in anyway that you are now fair game to be reviewed by any woman capable of using a mobile device. First date? Yeah. She already knows all about your habits, what you like, and how you are in bed, emphasis on the bed.

The Problem

If you aren’t already clear on why this is a problem, I’ll help you out. EVERY woman can see this application, and you CAN’T. The only thing the man can see is his biography and that he indeed exists on the system. The only way to see if you’re on there is to download the app and log in with your Facebook profile, which puts you on the grid anyway.

Once your on the grid, likely you'll find tags under your name like: #adventurous, #cabkicker, #gonebymorning.

To be fair, one woman’s review can’t destroy your reputation, as the women can agree or disagree with appraisals/negatives of you.

heister:

I am just waiting for the lawsuits to start.

My girlfriend interned for them last summer when they were starting out, and the lawsuits have already started. They started out by telling sorority houses at schools such as at the University of Arizona that the girls who rate the most guys get 500 dollars... Smart way to start out an app like theirs. If you switch your gender on facebook and switch it back it deletes your profile.

lol i remember this coming up last semester. i got my buddies girlfriend to show me my ratings...

not bad except for one whiskey-dick incident. i definitely think if there was a version for men people would be calling it sexist.

Doesn't facebook have privacy settings that would prevent this? If you're not my friend you get a single profile picture (me with several other people--wouldn't even know which one is me) and that's it. No other info or pics. Does this app get around privacy settings?

Yeah, but you could probably always get a fake account if you were really curious.

Besides, I doubt many girls will trust each other on that site. Girls realize that other girls are full of shit, so they will discount those ratings anyway.

Simply limit your facebook or deactivate it. Only a matter of time before you are able to block FB from showing up on mobile applications.

And create a fake account and see which women are using this app. Definitely a way to smoke out the slutty women and you can goose your score if you decide to keep FB active.

I'd imagine this app would drive off the gender you select on FB or else it could be used by men also. Deselect your gender and take your pic down.

If Facebook allowed something like that to move forward it would pretty much cause a mass exodus out of it. There's no way Facebook would allow another company to infringe upon it's name and business to the anger of the general population. No way Facebook would allow such a project to move forward.

Oh, but that have and they did.

I believe it's passed by because when you sign up for a Facebook account, your privacy settings default to let your friends access information you designate. Since a LuLu app user has to be friends with the ratee in order to rate, they are simply accessing the open information you give them anyway through their Facebook account.

In reality, it's just a Facebook to Facebook exchange, with LuLu being a facilitating party.
