Asset management to investment banking?

Looking for advice from anyone who has gone from AM to IB. I tried applying to a number of boutique firms knowing that it would be borderline impossible to get into a BB with no experience and a degree from a non-target. No responses yet. I am pursuing CFA since that is applicable to both AM and IB, but hoping it could make me a more attractive candidate for IB. I have 2.5 years of AM experience with series 7 and 66
