Bank of Walmart?
Can we see it happening? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-2…
Big moves happening at your favorite ghetto/redneck superstore. Will these high profile moves soon put Walmart on the fintech map? Will Manhattan be filled with no fee Walmart atm's? Curious to hear the thoughts.
Walmart is already on the fintech map. They offer a variety of money transfer products that allows practically anyone to send money anywhere in the world. Combined with all of their store locations, it's convenient and gives many people access to the financial system who are otherwise limited in some capacity. It's very popular with people who don't have bank accounts, since they can send payments to businesses or money to family. I would be surprised if they didn't try to expand as they generate so much revenue from the money transfer fees.
Unbanked/underbanked people? They are 100% already shopping at Walmart. Locations literally everywhere across the country, this is bullish AF
I do wonder if at some point Amazon will try to buy Walmart. Wouldn't be the craziest thing to envision this day and age.
I honestly don’t see how that deal would make it past anti-trust litigation.
I'd like to think the same, but the fact that Google, Amazon, and Facebook are even allowed to exist in their current forms to me says that the anti-trust folks are dosing off at the wheel.
Walmart is definitely not the favorite among the rednecks. Most things in that shop are imported from China.
It's cheap and accessible. In some areas, it's the only game in town. Have you ever been to a rural Walmart?
Walmart HQ is in Bentonville, AR. Definitely redneck.
Plus, as asked above, have you ever been to a Walmart 30 miles from your nearest city? It literally is the only shop for those people.
Plenty of companies are HQ in red states because of taxes
Wrong.
Source: am former redneck, still love Walmart
Bruh Walmart literally has a stereotype for being where rednecks shop, probably due to it being the only store in town for many of these people as TheExPresidents said
You guys are conflating "only shop in town" with people finding it to be their favorite store. And yes I've been both to rural and city Walmart.
I don't think anyone made the claim that Walmart is Rednecks' favorite store.
see my reply below
Not saying it is their favorite store, nor am I saying those in underserved neighborhoods love Walmart either. But, when you do go to these same Walmart's in these areas, well, you know the rest. When I went to the local Walmart in college (mildly sketchy area), you could understand why so many Worldstar videos were filmed in a Walmart.
Either way, this is not the point of the OP
