Barclays Houston?
Can anybody shed some light on Barclays Houston office for IB? Culture most important, how are people there? Hours? Anything else to know about that office? Very interested in learning more about that office. Thanks

Bump, also curious
Bump.

Shadow of the shop it used to be when Skip was in charge. Used to be among the top deal-flow but a string of senior departures has seen it steadily fall off the top. Is amongst the mid-tier BBs in the Houston IB scene. Supposed to have good culture but average (comp. to street) bonuses.
Thank you, really appreciate this.
Yeah, no worries. For example, Barclays has only closed 2 deals for a total value of $414 million this year. Having said that the two deals were run parallelly and in both deals, they advised Silverbow as a buy-side advisor - so in reality, it is just one deal that shows up as 2 on the league tables.
Okay, thanks thats helpful as well.
I’m assuming hours might be slightly lighter in that case as well? Obv not as much dealflow which is a negative though
Not necessarily. Low deal flow and large head count probably means a lot of pitches. I wouldn’t say hours are necessarily less but not as much as the sweatiest groups in Houston.
Also side note: do you know anybody working there who you’ve gotten to know about Barclays from or people working in Houston? Just curious.
Looking at a Barclays pitchbook on my desk. $414 million for 2022 is not accurate at all. Barclays gets plenty of deal flow. Good bank. Wouldn't hesitate to work there in a heartbeat if I was starting out again.
Analyst class is lean (~20). Some have said it's chill, but an Analyst told me they were all hanging on for dear life (ex. 10-12 hours on Easter).
Awesome, thanks
Is an analyst class of 20 supposed to be lean? Pretty sure Citi and Jefferies are similar too. Don’t think 20 total analysts is lean for Houston.
For a BB I think it is. Feel free to correct me though.
Does anybody know if non diversity superdays have started going out yet? Asking for houston
Did they only do O&G or also power?
I believe it’s energy, so probably both?
