Best way to to network if you don't have many alums from your school?
I am currently a rising junior from a non-target and don't have many alums to network with. I wanted to know the best way to network with people from reputable firms to get them on the phone? Additionally, I want to take a trip to New York after I have networked with several people so that I can set up coffee meetings with them. How have people spaced out the scheduling for that and what works best for those chats?
Try reaching out to people who were in the same organization as you. Such as greek life, clubs, etc. You can then reach out to them and address the connection in the subject line. For example, "AKPsi member wanting to learn more about XYZ firm" or something along those lines. Try to make a genuine connection with the people you reach out to. Networking is a long term game, not just about getting a resume push.
Thank you.
