Black Cars/Dinner Expenses for Capital Markets?

How does the black car/cab expense work if you're in DCM or Rates/Currencies origination? I know that during good weeks the hours can be ~60 but when you stay past 9 or so, do CM analysts get to use the cab expenses/black cars that IBD divisions do? Also, how does dinner work when you're staying late in CM? Is your dinner expensed as it is in IBD? Do you take time to eat dinner at all or do you just wait until you're done working and get it on the way home?

One final question I had was regarding lunch. I'm not a big lunch person and I have to keep my weight in check constantly - to me, eating a hot lunch everyday or ordering out seems like a huge waste of money. Lunch for me is more like a sandwich and an apple or something. Does anyone at BB firms bring their lunch or is this really rare? If it's rare or if I'll look weird for doing it would obviously go with the flow.

I usually bring my lunch. Seems to be pretty mixed in the offices I have been in.
Same here, granola bars/fruit. Dudes that eat a big lunch are sleepy all afternoon and hating life.

I don't work in DCM, but I know for a fact that if you stay past 9 you get a car (8PM at some firms). Don't abuse it though, they're not stupid.

Thanks. Anyone know about dinner? Is this expensed after 9? When you say don't abuse it, do you mean don't wait until 9 if it's like 8:45 and you're done? Or do you mean don't call it every day even if you are consistently working past 9?

If you're there past 9 take it, don't think about it. but don't take it all the way across town, dont walk back into work to take the free taxi etc... dinner is the same, it's all included dude, just don't go do your weekly shopping with your evening allowance. relax on this.

If you stay late (past 9pm) you'll get the lot.

In an effort to not look stupid on their first week of work people ask some retarded questions on here.

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

It's not that I'm trying to not look stupid, it's just that I'm curious as to how things work.

They'll walk you through the system and most places use seamless. By abusing it I mean don't go boozing from 7-9 and then jack a ride home, they'll figure it out at some point and you don't want to be "that guy". Do, however, feel free to play beer pong in the bullpen on Fridays after 10PM, and feel free to invite me.

Just don't pass out at work: someone I know did and it was hilarious but the veep that found him the next morning wasn't impressed.
