Black shirt/silver tie during interview
Is it cool to wear a black shirt with a silvery tie during an interview? It might come across as too modern but it could also be seen as hip, cool and "happenin'" right? I know it's a risk but is it worth it?

burn shirt asap
never wear a black shirt...
See above post.
I think all college students should have a pastel color wheel stapled to their forehead. Nothing is worse than seeing kids rocking burgundy shirts with black ties on Career Fair day.
really??
is this part of a secret wave of trolling/ bad jokes coming into WSO?????????
Black shirts are only worn by tools who dress up as 1920s era gangsters for a weak Halloween costume. Every time I see some moron wearing a black shirt with a silver or white tie I cringe. It is not hip nor cool. Your interviewers will be quick to brand you a complete and utter douche and you will instantly lose all credibility as a candidate. Like Monty said your best course of action would be to burn that black shirt immediately
Unless you want the interviewer to toy with you don't wear a black shirt. It's ALWAYS best to dress conservative for interviews i.e. white dress shirt with solid colored tie.
and burn your black suit too.. unless your uncle passed or your serving me food..leave the black suit at home
i do have a very nice black suit but its with a shadow stripe is that alright?
I don't buy into this one. I wore a black suit to all my interviews and got offers everywhere I wore it, one associate even asked me where I got it.
i would never hear anyone in a black suit. end of story.. if i see anyone we are interviewing in a black suit i point it out to all....
maybe people you met with has no sense of fashion or class... black suit is a major no no
Same for me. Call me an idiotic, fashion-less monkey, but it didn't impede me in any way.
If you are working/interviewing in NYC black suits are actually ok. I've heard from a number of people that black suits are pretty much only acceptable in NYC and nowhere else. That being said, I wouldn't risk it. Just like Monty, I know people who will ding you instantly if you are not in a Navy Blue or Charcoal suit. Why risk a job offer to "look trendy"...
what about red shirt balck tie, lol http://www.islandevents.com/entertainment/uploads/90_s_001.jpg http://image38.webshots.com/38/0/31/35/344603135ipLvdu_ph.jpg
and no im not the douche wearing that!!!
Troll troll troll your boat
or maybe just never told them
Black shirt open with a grey sport coat is okay for dinner or a nightclub. never wear a silver tie though. Wear a white or light blue shirt to an interview... Always
Wow, I would never wear a black shirt to anything professional, but I wear a black shirt with light colored ties to parties on occasion. I think it looks perfectly fine, even a bit more formal than white shirt/black tie.
It doesnt look more formal, it looks like a high school who thinks he has a fashion sense.
I've never seen a black shirt with a tie look good on anyone. Def avoid. Where something sensible to interviews, nice white/blue tailored shirt and a decent navy/grey suit is classic and safe.
That is if you're not a troll, in which case perhaps a skinned bear and a club would be appropriate.

Only acceptable if you also wear a fedora and suspenders.
Unless you're auditioning for the next twilight movie, you should never wear that set up.
Good god I wore a black shirt and silver tie for my high school prom and then never wore that combo again
