See above post.

I think all college students should have a pastel color wheel stapled to their forehead. Nothing is worse than seeing kids rocking burgundy shirts with black ties on Career Fair day.

Black shirts are only worn by tools who dress up as 1920s era gangsters for a weak Halloween costume. Every time I see some moron wearing a black shirt with a silver or white tie I cringe. It is not hip nor cool. Your interviewers will be quick to brand you a complete and utter douche and you will instantly lose all credibility as a candidate. Like Monty said your best course of action would be to burn that black shirt immediately

I don't buy into this one. I wore a black suit to all my interviews and got offers everywhere I wore it, one associate even asked me where I got it.

i would never hear anyone in a black suit. end of story.. if i see anyone we are interviewing in a black suit i point it out to all....

maybe people you met with has no sense of fashion or class... black suit is a major no no

If you are working/interviewing in NYC black suits are actually ok. I've heard from a number of people that black suits are pretty much only acceptable in NYC and nowhere else. That being said, I wouldn't risk it. Just like Monty, I know people who will ding you instantly if you are not in a Navy Blue or Charcoal suit. Why risk a job offer to "look trendy"...

I've never seen a black shirt with a tie look good on anyone. Def avoid. Where something sensible to interviews, nice white/blue tailored shirt and a decent navy/grey suit is classic and safe.

That is if you're not a troll, in which case perhaps a skinned bear and a club would be appropriate.

Only acceptable if you also wear a fedora and suspenders.
