Blackberry/PDA
I just bought a Blackberry from Verizon and then this offer came. Now the bank is giving me another Blackberry. Should I carry around 2 Blackberrys or if there is a way I can waive the bank's berry and just my existing one?

You want 2 phones, although most people go with the iphone because the bank gives them a blackberry. You will need a personal phone so that you can text and do things on it that might not be acceptable on the bank's phone. I'm not talking about sexting a 15 year old, but there are a lot of crude jokes/other shit that you shouldn't have on your work phone...also it is nice to be keeping your business and personal stuff separate.
Keep your phones seperate - People send crap to the wrong people all the time - imagine if you sent the CFO of a fortune 50 company an email about a 15 year old school boy that a priest had their way with.
Keep two separate phones.
Take back whatever pos blackberry you just bought and get an android based phone. Samsuns galaxy S, Droid X, HTC incredible, possibly Droid 1 if you are tech savvy and want ROMS.
do you guys keep your 2 phones in your purses? Why dont you just create a separate email account?
on a related note, I finally ditched my blackberry curve last month and got a samsung fascinate - so much better - with the SWYPE feature i actually email faster than on the curve
swype is an amazing program. There is really no other way to explain it.
The fascinate is a good phone as well.
I'll offer the dissenting opinion here and say I hated having two phones. It's a huge pain as a guy to have to carry two relatively bulky smart phones in your pocket. It's also confusing because you have to remember to always call your friends on the personal phone and always call coworkers on the work phone. Soon you forget, and friends are calling your work phone, your associate is calling your personal phone, and it's a giant clusterfuck.
Just keep two separate email accounts on the same device and don't be a moron.
I'm giving you a SB for using the word CLUSTERFUCK........probably my favorite curse word because it is a fuck derivative that you can't use it in every situation and its imaginative potential is infinite.
Agree with Capt K on carrying one phone. Just make sure the company policy allows you to have corporate account on personal phone or vice versa. I carry one phone and have my corporate on my personal phone and let the company pay the bill.
My wife has the same problem. Her bank gave her a BB when she already had one. Her work BB is basically an email and scheduling tool. She has no phone access, text, or IM. Keep 2 separate phones.
i thought it was illegal for banks to see texts sent from your work BB?? if texts are unlimited, why cant you use it for texting friends in a slightly inappropriate manner?
Banks can see anything you do with your BB - it's their property, and the time you spend with it is company time. There was a recent supreme court case on this, where a cop was disciplined by the city for inappropriate texts sent from his work phone, and scotus ruled it was all kosher.
Most people I know carry two phones, though usually only one is a BB. I also know a few guys who go just with the corporate phone, and usually keep their personal line and have it set to auto-forward to their BB. As people have pointed out, what you'll be able to do with your bb will vary from firm to firm - some places lock it down completely, some just block bbm, some add a firewall so you can't access inappropriate sites, and some will let you use it to coordinate with your thai hooker for all they care. For my money, carrying two phones is worth it, especially if you like to listen to music on your commute, as BB's suck as media players (and may have that functionality disabled anyway). What that other phone is is entirely up to you.
i have a nice bb bold 9700 and am getting another bb from work. right now i carry around my ipod touch + bb and it's sort of annoying, so imagine the inconvenience of carrying two bb's plus an ipod touch. oh and i just got my personal bb last year so i can't upgrade to an iphone without paying a ridiculous fee =(
