BlackRock Job Posting Success?
Hey guys,
Has anybody had success, or know someone who has been successful, posting their resume to job postings on BlackRock's career section of their webpage? I've been applying pretty regularly to positions over the past 5 or so months and have yet to get one response. Yes, perhaps my resume sucks, or my experience is not appropriate, or there are a ton of really qualified people applying.
Curious if this is actually the case (though I have poured over my resume!) or if I'm just losing out on the numbers game - I can't imagine how many resumes they get daily.
I also asked a couple of my friends who are in AM and none have ever received a response to postings on BLK's page either - though they received calls back from competitors (Janus, Franklin, Invesco, etc).
I got through twice, the 1 interview I ended up declining anyway. My resume is probably no better than yours, and this was also probably 2/20ish maybe over the last year of so.
Applied online a few years ago and got an interview
Their system sucks that's for sure. I applied to more than 10 positions (NYC/London/HK) without realizing everything changes once you deleted your old cover letter and post a new one for a new position. Anyway yes I got interviews from 2 different teams in the same office at BlackRock. One called me to confirm with the time and another just emailed me. Also received emails if the position got filled up before they review my CV. But no notification if they reject you. I never heard back from 1 team and found they rejected when logged into the system.
Arg. I guess I am a newb - I haven't been uploading a cover letter as I didn't see a place where they asked for it? Are you including it along with your resume in the additional attachments?
I remember there is a place where you can upload any file you want except your resume and you can tick it as a "relevant document" when you apply to positions. Should still be the same right now, i guess?
And FYI yes I had work/internship experience in HF/AM/SWF before I applied to BLK and it definitely helped I believe. Would be helpful if you can find some alum/friends at the firm to send a note for you to the HR
LOL. Thanks for the responses guys. Man...not sure what I wanted to hear - that YES, they ARE seeing resumes and are just passing on mine, vs no, they aren't b/c they are lazy and their system sucks! I guess the latter would of made me feel a little better in a strange way.
Do you guys all have direct AM experience? IE: Work for an investment management company (Fidelity, Wellington, etc.).
Thanks Xaipe - I am a dumba$$. Just uploaded cover letters for both positions I recently applied to. Hope they get seen. I submitted the initial applications yesterday, so it hasn't been 24 hours yet. Do you recall how long it took to get an email/call after submission?
Yeah I figured you had AM experience. Guessing you're applying to the PM/Analyst team?
No need to over worry about it. I got an interview from BLK's PE team with a cover letter saying "the reason why i am a good fit for the Global Client Group is...", and I had no transactional experience before LOL. So if they like your resume you should be fine. But do suggest you to avoid mistakes. and yes for BlackRock I only applied to groups in PMG.
Noted and completely agree. By the way, sent you a PM.
Friend got into PMG through an online application. Non-target, some relevant experience.
I just interviewed at BLK this week....
I applied to a position online and didn't hear anything for 3 weeks. I had an employee referral and had an interview scheduled that day. If possible, I'd try and find a connection
