It's only frowned upon if you've got powder deposits on the sides of your lips. Use a napkin and use it often.
It takes like 20-30 seconds to fill a shaker, shake it, and chug it down. Much more efficient than spending 5 minutes on eating a couple of chicken fillets...use the bathroom if you're concerned what others will think (Though I don't think anyone will give two shits about this)
Drinking it in the bathroom will make everyone give two shits about it... what is unusual a guy drinking a protein shake at his desk, or a guy drinking a protein shake in the bathroom?

I doubt anybody would care. I've seen people in all sorts of roles openly drinking shakes at my bank (VP/ED level included). I do feel that it should be said that a protein shake is a supplement, not a meal replacement so while it's fine to drink them, you should also get some real, nutritious food in you.
In reply to the question about abs, creatine and protein will help you gain muscle mass in your abs, which will make your abs thicker. This will help you when you start cutting, as the degree of body fat loss necessary to get them to show will decrease.

I got six pack abs by drinking creatine mixed with protein, and egg yolks. I didn't have time to go to the gym with my banking hours, but i still made 6 pack abs.
