Brown, Gibbons, Lang & Co - looking for info

I am looking for opinions and insights on Brown, Gibbons, Lang & Co. I did a search, but the threads were all a little dated.

Seems like a decent middle market boutique with solid deal flow and involved in interesting work (M&A, private placements) in a variety of industries.

Really just want any color on how they are viewed, culture, perception, etc. They are HQed in Cleveland with a Chicago office...do they have a Midwestern culture?

Thanks in advance.

Don't have anything useful to add, but the past threads/comments about this firm have been quite negative. I'd do a search on that. Can't imagine much has changed.

Beyond what was posted before, I know they rescinded some offers in 2008. Obviously, that was mostly due to market conditions, but you didn't hear much of that happening at their competitors (Baird, Blair, etc.).

Underpay and burn out their junior guys. Have a bad rep for aggressively hiring and then cutting everyone when deal flow declines. Used to be more reputable, but it has lost talent since '09 when it went on massive cutting.

Still, if you are looking for an entry into MM IB, it will provide some experience and you will learn how to run a process. Just get your expectations in check before you go.

Definitely nowhere near the top for Chicago MM groups (e.g. Lincoln, Baird, Blair, HL, PJC) and I'd put them a notch below groups like Mesirow.

ahhh really...would you mind elaborating? you can pm me if thats better...i really want to know as much as you have to say. thank you so much for your help!
