Building a book as a financial advisor

Wealth management doesn't get much attention on this forum, but maybe there are a few FAs on here. I am curious what it is like in a wire or ibd training program. Did you join a team or built it on your own? How did you go about building your book? how much can one expect to make in year 1, 2, 3, 4, 5?
