Business Analyst / Reporting Analyst to top B-School?

I got laid off in January and just took an Associate position as doing Business Analyst / Management Reporting Analyst work at a mid-tier bank. It's a hybrid role (they are combining two positions into one), and I start in Mid-March. It's on the trading floor, 40 hrs / week. People there seem very nice and relaxed, although I've talked to them during my interviews and they are 'lifers'. (All worked in that department for over 5+ years, most over 10+ years now, and they are all happy where they are)

How does this look when applying to top B-Schools? It's obviously not front office so I fear that it would be looked down upon heavily :(

You've got about 3-5 yrs of work experience ahead of you before you need to worry about your B-school chances. Quite a bit can (and will) happen over that period. In the meantime, focus on doing the best job you can, earning promotions, building up ECs and rocking your GMAT.

There's no shortage of IT or back office finance guys in top 25 MBA programs, especially if they are coming from reputable companies such as BBs. If you're career switching your passion has to be evident and your story needs to make sense, complemented by great stats. That's pretty much it
