Same as above. dm if you want. But sleep is key.

I left work at 6 today and for a moment I wanted to walk into the traffic in Manhattan. Had 3-hour sleep and now I feel better

Dunno how you manage to stay awake with 3*36 Concerta, methylphenidate limits the recapture of dopamine but doesn't increase production; I always fucking fall asleep on it. Don't forget to drink water

Dm me please.  I’ll give you my cell and we can talk and maybe meet in the park if you’re in NYC

Make an appointment with your psychiatrist. When I have insomnia I take 20mg of Olanzapine and it knocks me the fuck out. You may be prescribed Trazodone alternatively depending on your case.

For over the counter pills, you could probably take 50mg to 100mg of diphenhydramine, but when I have serious insomnia I have taken 800mg of diphenhydramine and it doesn’t do shit. The Olanzapine really helps me with insomnia, but you’ll probably fall asleep for 12-14hrs so clear your schedule.

Yeah I don’t take that stuff anymore. I take benzodiazepines though which some say increase the risk of Alzheimer’s. But, I’m not too worried about getting Alzheimer’s.

I have been plagued by a mind which remembers everything. Thoughts from years ago and also I am a super recognizer, so typically remember every face I have ever seen. Memories are great, but I am also plagued by them. In my current state, I am still capable of mortal sin and the fate of my eternity rests in the balance.

If I got Alzheimer’s, it would basically be the end of my spiritual responsibility as I would no longer be capable of mortal sin. I would no longer be plagued by my memories so I would be free in a sense.

when I have insomnia I try to go for a long bike ride and a sauna the following day. cycling a 30-40 mile cycle seems daunting but you will feel great after it.

30-40mi isn’t that much - that’s only 90-120min

I love all the hate on this, but in the cycling world, 30 - 40mi is not a ‘long bike ride’. Maybe you could call it a good workout, but a ‘long’ ride probably starts at a metric century at 62mi.

That’s cool you cycle though - cheers. 🍻

  • For the insomnia, try listening to binaural beats (i know it sounds wack but worked for me when prescription sleeping meds didn’t)
  • Take a sick day/week to recover. Do not worry about the impact on your team, that’s not your responsibility right now
  • Tell your mom, or another family member/friend how you’re feeling
  • Not sure if you’ve got professional help atm, if not get yourself referred ASAP

Hope everything gets better for you, always remember if things get really low there are helplines and also ER if you need to talk to someone urgently. Much better to seek help than to do something you’ll regret.

Yeah agree with this. Take the weekend to recharge and spend time with your family. Not worth sacrificing your mental health for this job, especially for someone like yourself who's brave enough to admit you're not feeling healthy and right. Take care

What is your ongoing problem?

hi all, OP here. Thanks so much for all the kind responses and offers to help. I passed out a while after posting this. Had a really long sleep over the weekend. VP on a deal emailed me on sunday morning with some stuff to do and started with "didn't want to disturb your saturday" so that was really well appreciated.

At this point i'm not sure if i overreacted, but shit gets tough sometimes. i'm really heartened by the support that was shown and i think this is what ultimately makes WSO a great place - people in the same spot all over the world willing to help each other

Thanks all and i hope the rest of the year goes nice and well for all of us!

No need to apologize for "overreacting" --- there's no such thing as overreacting. Your life and your feelings are important and as valid as everyone else's around you. You're just getting in touch with your honest emotions and that's actually a sign of healing. It's a humongous step just to ask for help, a lot of men in particular are too proud to even make it to that step, which can end in disaster.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.
