Career Transition right after Undergrad

Monkeys...in need of some help.

I have been on this site for a bit and have read my fair share of networking tips and tricks but looking for some specific help with my situation. Currently in Boston, fiance is in grad school so can't move to NYC. Want to get into IBD as soon as possible so looking at the boutiques up here like HW, Evercore, etc.

The issue I have is that my network (coming from outside the New England area) is not to strong up here and looking for some contacts in the area. I am currently working in Big 4 M&A Consulting so working but want the switch.

With this in mind, does anyone have any tips for how to reach out to people and apply for positions and get some visibility within the industry up here ? My previous work was doing a year internship at a boutique PE firm by my undergrad and have a solid track record.

Just looking for advice/helpful tips or some starting point for contacts (yes I have exhausted Linkedin and the other obvious ones)

Thanks

Hopefully this does not lead away from your original question, but would you mind explaining your path to M&A consulting at Big 4? Like school attended, directly into M&A consulting or did u lateral from audit or tax? and whats it like to work in M&A for big 4? Thanks
