CFA vs CVA

Hi guys,

I am a recent grad, and currently working as valuation analyst in an appraisal firm valuing fixed assets. My job scope is to build models using data analytics to appraise plants and equipment, machinery, as well as properties. I am interested in branching out to real estate finance or research analysis roles in the next few years. Any suggestions on whether CFA or CVA would be a better option to obtain?

Also, would my current job scope be valuable in entering the industries that I am interested in?

Any insights or help is really appreciated.

Thank you!

CFA has more recognition than CVA.

Neither would really tip the scale in any great direction. Just get great at your job now and parlay the experience up and out.

Good luck lil cubbie.

Real estate finance ppl generally don't care about CFA, I would focus on networking and doing my current job well in order to get to RE. For research: network, do your job well, and start studying for the CFA. It can only help. I've never even heard of the CVA.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
