Chances at H/S/W

My brother doesn't have a WSO profile and wanted me to post for him:

Harvard undergrad, Economics (3.6 GPA, cum laude)
780 GMAT
Solid but not extraordinary ECs

2 years at GS/MS in San Francisco
2 years at well known PE firm (think Permira, Warburg, General Atlantic) on the west coast

Recs: solid
Essays: should be well written and interesting

Can he be reasonably confident of getting into one of H/W/S, or is it a crapshoot?

Sorry dude, but someone with the stats you stated should know better than a bunch of college kids. Take a lap & revaluate were you're getting advice from. Oh & cum laude at Harvard's a 3.75.

Wharton and Stanford have a new policy called "3 + 0.6." Basically, if you went to WHYP and have a 3.6 EXACTLY, not higher or lower, they will put you in a preferred admission pile. Harvard will soon follow their lead. Congrats! HWS is a possibility for you!

fairfieldmonkey:
with grade inflation rampant at this school, a 3.6 is basically laxbro status academic performance

You wish faggot. Laxbro's are the smartest people on the planet. Take a lap.

Why is everyone so upset about this thread?

I said I was posting for my brother. And 3.5 is required for cum laude at Harvard - I would know because my brother did it.

I have seen a lot of people with better GPA and similar gmat getting rejected so it doesn't seem like a common sense question.

Why is everyone so upset about this thread?

People on this board are generally very pissed off.

If you have worse credentials than them, they tell you that you are a lazy slacker who will fail. Example: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/ivy-leave-ba-with-terrible-gpa-an…

If you have better credentials than them, they tell you that you are a gloating son of a bitch. So you are a gloating son of a bitch.
