Cognizant equity research
Has anyone had any experience with them or any information to share? Are certain IB roles outsourced to them and you do it, in some cases you work at the IB with the team, would this be worth persueing?

Career Resources
Bump, also interested.
Bump. I had an initial interview with them, but I am currently working in an IB M&A role, so not sure if it's worse to take a pay cut and go live in NY with a higher cost of living. I imagine there are more future prospects in NY compared to good ol' Nebraska, though. And I am tired of CIM editing...
Anyone have any experience with them? What exactly are they doing? From Google searches, it seems like they provide support to UBS...
Oh, for the record, it was for an equity research associate position..
Hate to grave dig this, but am also very curious.
I'm currently dealing with this situation and would love to hear from someone about it. Will report back in a few weeks.
I am doing a modeling assessment currently with them. The first round interviewer (someone from India) mentioned the role will be a permanent role with one of Cognizant's client (possibly UBS), working with a senior analyst. I spoke with the head of research at UBS back in 2012 and he mentioned the firm was looking to cut costs by opening another non-NYC office to train associates, but it seems that never materialized. Perhaps this is UBS trying to save on hiring costs for associates? I'm guessing this type of role could be similar to a traditional equity research associate role, but just be paying substantially less and also you won't be an employee of the bank.
Curious if anyone has updates with them.
i an with the similar situation, received a phone call for first round. How long did you wait before getting the financial assessment?
got the assessment right after the phone call
unfortunately I did not get it yet. So I assume I failed?
Did you pass the assessment? Was that the final round and did you get an offer?
they said if there is interest from the client firm (the bank) I would hear from them, but it's been a few weeks and no response
I recently submitted the modeling assignment. How did that go for you?
I couldn't get the balance sheet to balance so it's somewhat wrong. It was only off by a little bit so I invented a line item ("other assets") to get it to balance. Not expecting anything. And I'm pretty sure the model isn't the final step in the process. I read on Glassdoor that the final stage is to go into UBS for "fit" interview.
I still don't totally understand the role anyway. It seems like UBS is trying to offload some of its ER work to cut costs, so they're going through Cognizant which acts as sort of a consultant. Then they only have to pay each person five-figures instead of low six-figures if they were to hire them directly as a full-time UBS employee. (Based on my interpretation.)
Going to try and get this thread re-activated. I performed the modeling assignment and have moved onto the next step. Can anyone speak to the interview at UBS? Thanks in advance.
What is your opinion about equity research at cognizant? (Originally Posted: 12/09/2013)
This is an Indian company that is pretty well known for their tech consulting. They are hiring for equity research consulting at major investment banks in NYC. It seems like there is a lot of focus on providing models to the Equity Research Analysts at the bank. What opportunities do jobs like this usually provide in 3-5 years. Thanks
just a guess- its probably more back office type work to support the equity research function
Cognizant? What r they? (Originally Posted: 10/05/2011)
They seem to be an Indian consulting company breaking into a US market, their stock has been doing amazingly well, and they claim 90% growth in MC space. Does anyone know much about them?
Mostly does IT outsourcing, based out of India. 3rd behind Tata and Infosys, but before Wipro. Probably trying to get into MC space. If you have 10 people, and hire 8, that's a 80% growth. Figure out their revenue in the space and compare against larger players (same with headcount).
They are extremely fast growing and have come from nowhere to just became a massive player. Their MC would be similar to Accenture's I reckon, but they probably offer very fast career progression..
bbhhva, this is what I was considering.. fast career progression.. i have an offer from a big4 advisory, and Cognizant people contacted me (i am getting my MBA at top 25 school). does it make sense to explore?
