Cold-email question - Contact info
When you cold-email someone, specifically a MD, why is it important to state how you found their contact info? I found several MD's contact info off their firms website. So should I say something along the lines like I I found your information off your firms website etc...?
Because otherwise it sounds creepy.
have fun wasting your time and looking like a stalker.
Yes what an idiot, maybe he should just follow your advice and sit at home and expect your dad to send a job his way. Fucking retarded asshole.
Just send a cover letter and resume. You can say you found their contact info on their website but it doesn't really matter. If they didn't want you to email them, they wouldn't post their emails on their websites.
If they like your resume, they'll offer you an interview. If not, they'll ignore you. And that is the worst thing that can happen. They won't blacklist you or anything. Expect about a 1% response rate btw.
I couldn't disagree more. If you are contacting an MD, it's presumptuous to immediately send a resume or cover letter. This isn't a job application.
Keep it short, ask some intelligent questions, and perhaps turn it into a phone conversation where you can speak in depth. At some point, subtly see if the MD will help you and forward your resume onto HR. Sending a resume without ever contacting the person before will get your email deleted.
