College Help!!!

Hey guys,

I recently got accepted to Mccombs at UT (in state) and plan on majoring in finance. I got into UCB for the GMP program as well. Am able to afford both, as my parents will be paying for my college education. Which would be the better choice, overall, keeping in mind that I would want to go into IB out of college. Plan on doing an MBA at a top school in the future as well.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your acceptances! I'm sure it is difficult to make college decisions right now- hopefully you've had a chance to visit both schools in the past.

If I had to pick between these myself, I would go to Berkeley, hands down. Harder to get into, more prestigious, and overall stronger for someone looking to go into IB. Both are great schools, but Berkeley is in a different tier than UT. That being said, this is a hard question to answer without knowing someone personally. For example, if you are more attracted to the UT culture or think you want to stay in TX long term, UT might be the better option.

If you can, I would reach out to students at both schools and ask them- very frankly- about their experiences (the good AND the bad). Talking to people who could provide insight about the reality of attending a school was very helpful to me when I was deciding where to go.
