Credit Suisse SF Tech PE Placement
Interned at CS this summer and wondering how CS SF Tech analysts in recent years placed into buyside. Also, how does SF compare to NY M&A / NY Tech?

curious too

A bit odd that you interned there and didnt figure this out
A bit odd to ask people in your group about exit ops before even securing a return offer
Really isnt.
Ran a quick LinkedIn search and the following exits came up:
Strategic Finance at thredUP
Corporate Development at Lyft
Google Product Quality Operations
Growth at Shopkick
Business Operations at Storm8
Business Services at VolunteerMatch
Channel Partnerships at Dropbox
KKR Menlo PE
Growth Equity at TA Associates
Silver Lake Menlo
Temasek
ZhenFund
Francisco Partners
I'll be honest and say it's not what it used to be. Years ago CS was regarded as a top group (in the tier right below the absolute top), but it's been falling since then. It isn't like GS/Qatalyst/MS where you can basically get your foot in the door anywhere, but that being said I think it still does offer you access to relatively good quality exits. I personally know of a few people who used to work there and their exits are as follows: Upper MM PE, small VC, corp dev at a high-growth startup... so it's pretty good but no it's not going to come close to GS/Q/MS.
Lmao this reads like a Greekrank post..
This is spot on
Along the same lines, is anyone familiar with CS NY Tech placement? Is it comparable to SF? Better/worse?
Not really following these groups closely but eventually, your group's reputation will matter less than how you perform as an individual.
Can you work 80-100 hour weeks? Great.
Are you thoroughly understanding the models and pitches that you're assigned to? If not, then this will come out during the interview process.
Example of a bad answer in a PE interview: PE interviewer, why did Dell raise debt and raise it in the way that they did? Analyst answer: Umm not really sure but I performed a comp an excel analyses to determine the optimal debt amount Dell should raise. PE Interviewer: Impressive (Thinks to herself the analyst is only a number cruncher and will prove no additional value besides crunching numbers)
