Ik this isn’t an answer to your question but why are you ruling out EMBAs (Northwestern and Wharton are probably in the top 3 or so)?
No, I'm aware of them already. I'm definitely thinking of applying. I'm just searching for programs that I haven't heard of yet.
I've spent a some time looking into this subject. Beyond the EMBA programs, there are a few other degrees out there for tenured executives.
Non-MBA part time masters - Programs such as Cambridge and HEC's masters in entrepreneurship, Oxford's program mgt are non-MBA part time masters that can be done from a distance at strong b-schools.
DBA programs - schools like IE and Bocconi offer this degree. It's billed as the practitioner version of the PhD and offered part time. In my opinion, it seems like a lot of work and money for a degree not many recognize, no one in the industry really knows what a Doctorate in Business Admin is nor really cares. I'd advise against this route. Seems to be a cash grab for the schools who offer it.
Exec / Part Time PhD programs - a few schools in Europe offer part time or exec PhD programs. Cass in London and RSM in Rotterdam come to mind as decent b-schools with this option. A fair amount of UK Unis (Warwick) offer this as well, but it's unstructured and seems difficult to accomplish compared to Cass/RSM. I'd advise against the unstructured part time PhDs in the UK as the failure rate is very high and there is limited (if any) supervisor guidance.
Damn those are exactly what I was looking for thank you mate i hope you become a billionaire
Happy to help.
I've gone down this route and I'm very familiar w/ these options as well as which programs to stay away from.
Feel free to DM me anyway if you want to discuss as you get closer to making a decision on programs.
Good luck!
Thanks a lot! No US programs though? Besides the Sloan programs, which people may classify as EMBA programs (although they really aren't), are there no master's for executives in the US?
If you're looking for a non-MBA exec program where you do not have to regularly be on campus, the offering is limited.
The top non-EMBA masters US programs targeted at execs are usually full time. Stanford's msx and MIT's sloan fellows are top programs but require a year of being full time on-campus.
HBS has something shorter, their PLD program, but the bar to enter is low and the cost is high. Doesn't seem worth it.
MIT's SDM is a definitely more flexible with a part time virtual option, but geared more towards tenured engineers.
In terms of other on-campus non-EMBA programs, HKS has a full time mid-career exec MPA program that attracts a lot of world bank types. Columbia's SIPA school has a weekend MPA program equivalent where you can focus on int'l finance. Both are very strong programs and beyond the IMF/UN crowd and non-profit ppl, they attract at lot of macro investor types.
Hello Ulyssescat5
Check out Stanford MSx, MIT Sloan and London Business School's Sloan Fellows program and perhaps USC's IBEAR. You may also want to consider Cornell Johnson's Accelerated MBA if you have another grad degree. Although not specifically geared towards executives, it tends to attract a more experienced cohort.
Obviously I haven't a clue about your qualifications so my suggestions are diverse.
