Desk placement for an incoming summer analyst, Nomura

Hey guys, i have received an offer for Nomura's global markets summer analyst program and I was wondering if anyone that has completed this program could speak on the desk placement.

My main questions are if I would need to network to guarantee a certain desk or your preferences are usually met.

Thanks guys.
