It generally depends on the firm.
Usually, analysts don't get that. Neither do associates unless they have trading responsibilities, or maybe if they work in research, but they often have freestanding terminals too.
There may be a few Trading Assistants who desperately need it and get it.
Usually in Market Risk and Quant Analytics there will be freestanding Bloomberg terminals that you will need to go up and use 1-2x per week just to check out some security.
If you use Bloomberg less than 1-2x per day, there is nothing wrong with sharing a freestanding terminal among 30 people. That's $2900/month more that they have for your salary.
OP, it depends on the specific firm and role, tough to generalize. There will almost certainly be shared terminals you can use, and if there is no one else that uses one of these and your IT restrictions aren't excessively strict then you can use it on your own computer using Remote Desktop.
None of these are FO positions. No terminals unless very senior (firm-dependent).
Btw, sitting next to a trader doesn't mean anything by itself. The waterboy is in the dugout, but that doesn't mean he plays for the Yankees.
No Bloomberg for you!
Ops guys/trading Assitants/whatever you want to call them have bbg in my firm. So do our risk controllers.

How many Bloomberg Terminals does the average desk in BB sales and trading have? Does everyone get one?
Every FT hire gets one.....not sure about the interns. The final number depends on the size of the desk.
interns is a case by case basis. Some dont, some do.

there aren't many "terminals" it's an app within your computer
@jimbo,
? There are definitely legit Bloomberg Terminals (with the keyboard that looks like it comes straight from the Millennium Falcon). Last year at my BB, we had two terminals set up in the office (IBD).

he asked about sales and trading, not ibd. everyone on a sales or trading desk has bberg as an app within the computer, and the bberg keyboard as their keyboard.
