Honestly there is nothing glorious about taking a car home at 11/12/1am, etc after working for the entire day. These car rides are only filled with anxiety as you're taking a break from the intense day you had at work and contemplate your life choice to work so hard.

I only hope for no traffic and to get home asap so I can fall asleep right away..

This exactly. Who the fuck cares what method of transportation shuffles you from your office at 1AM back to your apartment. All of this bullshit is intended to appear prestigious, but isn't.

Once you've been on a private jet a few times, you'll also see why it's not something to be glorified.

I'm sure I could take one, but my Uber account on the work phone ties to the corporate card, which is tied into my expense account. Most black cars are actually pretty scuzzy anyway. Your average Uber is nicer.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

GS still has a black car line at 200 West (during non-COVID times)

I've never noticed it. What side of the building is it on?

Maybe a couple for executives/traveling to client meetings during the day, but the regular car line at night for people who work late is just normal Ubers and Lyfts. I work there

There are quite a few nice perks.

Main perks are automatic upgrades to Uber Black from UberX, when available.

There is a dedicated UberX Diamond, which comprises of the highest rated UberX drivers.

Higher Uber points earnings/$ spent; so, you reach Uber gifts faster. Every couple of rides you'll get $5 in Uber Cash. It's nice because your bank will pay for the rides, but you get to use the Uber Cash on your personal trips. When I was in banking, I had enough Uber Cash that I was rarely spending on my own trips.

Longer standby times. Not sure what it is now, but Ubers would have to wait on you for 15 minutes before they cancel.

Bunch of other stuff, I'd check their website

I don't know if this is a function of uber/lyft but another reason might be that black cars are insanely expensive. I was planning my Fall trip and want to do my airport transfers by black car and the prices I was getting were eye-watering. Like an hour ride from the airport for $650, just really stupid stuff. Of course I'm expecting to pay for such a service, but $650/hour? Something is out of line there.
