Drug testing - Wells Fargo
I know I know everyone is going to hate me for asking but I'm paranoid.
I recently accepted a verbal offer from Wells Fargo (within wholesale banking, not securities).
Can anyone that works for wells fargo speak as to when they underwent drug screening?
Was it after you signed the offer letter or after you reported to work?
If you get tested, you'll get tested before you start work.
How soon before starting work? Same week?
Not sure for your gig, for my IB SA gig this summer (and my friends') the drug tests are now for a late May/early June start date.
thanks for the insight. +1
haHA that would be bad. That would honestly be pretty stupid though...who gives a fuck if you smoked a joint 3 months ago?You got something to hide buddy? And did ya search around in the forums already?
I did search, just didn't find many first had accounts. Regardless, sounds like I'll be tested before I start
We here at WSO field one of these questions about every other day. Search. Also, almost every financial firm will drug test you once, before you start.
Just go to a head shop a buy some clean piss. They don't monitor your toc screen for corporate gigs, just for like probation and shit.
just pray that it isn't a hair follicle test....then you're pretty fucked.
For the BB I'm interning at, the test can't be done more than a month before your start date. So expect it some time in May.
They probably won't do a hair follicle test (might be a good idea to look at the employee handbook to make sure). Usually that's reserved for people who require a security clearance, transportation jobs (if you need a CDL), military (sometimes), etc.
If you're worried about a piss test, Google "how to pass a piss test". If you want to get that shit out of your system naturally, you could do it in 2-3 weeks by working out every day, drinking a lot of water and cranberry juice, and maintaining a good diet.
I highly doubt they'll test you for an SA, but I could be wrong. Better safe than sorry.
You have to read about the drug test before you sign the contract and it always read what you sign because if the contract is stipulated nothing you can do ...
As the saying goes: "He who owes nothing, cares for nothing"
Jim Rome was talking about this last week RE: some top prospect who tested positive for weed at the NFL Combine. I'll say the same to you, "If you can't stay off (whatever your preferred narcotic is) for this brief period of time, then said drug is clearly more important than your career and you have a drug problem."
FYI: I'm a Liberterian-Leaning Conservative who opposes Criminalization of drugs, hookers, gambling, etc. but this is your CAREER and LIFE
Thought I'd update everyone and maybe help some prospective WF analysts in the future. I didn't end up undergoing drug screening (at least thus far). Completed a full FBI background check and that seems to be the totality of it.
Correct. The following are the exact words from a Morgan Stanely IB HR chick / cougar I was chatting with last weekend at the Kentucky Derby "Nobody does drug tests. It's a surprisingly big expense to have for a large organization, almost impossible to catch someone using another persons piss (long as it's not their pregnant girlfriends) and we figure there's plenty of other chances for these kids to get axed anyway,"
I've worked for two MAJOR banks in corporate gigs and neither drug tested.
If you handle cash money you probably will.
Wells Fargo Securities (Wachovia) Drug Test (Originally Posted: 06/20/2010)
Does anyone know what type of drug test Wells Fargo Securities (Former Wachovia Sec.) administers? I'm not a user, but had a slip up 1 1/2 months ago.
i dont think any drug will be detected if you used it 1.5 months ago unless it's a hair test...
Pot is gone in a month. Maybe less depending on how frequent of a user. The more fat you have the more it stays in your system, but 1.5 months is good enough. Hair will last longer, but banks dont really give a shit, they just do it for insurance and PR purposes.
Spinal tap, baby!
Anyone know whether its hair or urine?
Never heard of a bank giving a hair test, although I know nothing about WF specifically. I'm pretty sure that hair tests are significantly more expensive to have done. They don't care enough to want to know if you had a joint 6 months ago.
The only firm I've ever heard of that administers a hair test is Proctor & Gamble. Many pharma companies do blood tests, but I've never heard of a finance firm doing that.
if they did hair tests 70+% of the analyst pool would be weeded out.
.
bic your head just to be on the safe side....balls and ass too
There's no way there'd be a hair test. Similar to other bb's, WF will be pee test if anything.
they copy the Citi model for a lot of stuff, such as TSS, training time, names of groups, division of groups, etc.
youre fine dude......dont stress over it.
I"m starting to feel less nervous. Don't want a bad decision based on too many beers to ruin my career.
To make you even less nervous, there is nothing that will stay in your system that long. Look it up. When u see mary says 2-3 months, that is for a very heavy user. Most others are just a few days.
Of more significance, I work with WFS in ER, and did not get one at all.
I would not worry if I was you, my firm gave me a drug test and I had such a slip up also maybe one month earlier and came back alright. So it is alright.
Wells Fargo PWM spring internship - drug testing? (Originally Posted: 02/01/2011)
Anyone familiar with Wells Fargo PWM unofficial internships at regional branches and their drug testing policies? thanks
If it's an unofficial process and you got it through networking/emailing I wouldn't be too concerned.
happy doesn't know what he's talking about.
WF usually takes blood, semen, and stool samples.
It's paid though...which makes me slightly concerned
I had a paid pwm internship. Don't expect to get tested.

Background check - that is all.
Wells Fargo Securities Drug Testing (Originally Posted: 04/23/2011)
Does anyone know whether or not Wells Fargo Securities (formerly Wachovia Securities) drug tests for summer I-Banking interns? I know for sure they do a criminal background tests, but the offer letter doesn't mention anything about drug testing. It's rather important that I find out.
Thanks.
I think just about every place does now-a-days. Just try to lay off for a month or as long as possible before the test.
Yes, they piss test. I know for a fact.
All I can tell you is how to pass one. There are several options. I've always seen drug tests as a way to weed out idiots that don't know how, or to eliminate people that have such a problem they can't go 6 hours without drugs.
Option A. Synthetic urine. Easily concealable, but you have to have it right around 98.6 degrees or you will fail
Good Luck!
ML, and GS didn't. Not that I was worried, but the release did say that they would. Wells Fargo?? really ugghhh
well..they make their cashiers take them, so im sure they'll make you take it as well. can i
