Recommend a specific brand? How does dosage work? Take all the pills at once as if I were consuming a brewed coffee with espresso in it?

NoDoz are nice as they have that container. But if you don't want the 'pill jingle' in your bag, Vivarin are good too. I actually wouldn't recommend store knockoffs as the coating on the pills at times tastes like ass. Like horrible. I don't know why, but I've run into it across a few brands.

I don't currently take caffeine pills, but use them during various phases of my life when overdrive is needed. I also would add that any use of caffeine should also be associated with an equivalent amount of exercise for several reasons. Also, if you're just slugging back caffeine one day, make sure to eat the basic food groups and hydrate so that your body doesn't go on overdrive with inadequate fuel.

I drink a lot of espresso, but the most constant source of mild energy through the day that is very healthy is green tea. Last year I had a position where I drank 15 cups per day or something like that. People definitely made fun of me. I had a boiler in my office. It was perfect.

Do you miss the act of drinking a cup of coffee? It becomes a comfort food/drink to many coffee drinkers which is why they are reluctant to switch to other caffeinated options such as teas or pills. You've listed four good reasons why pills would be better though...

Totally rely on the cup of coffee to get my bowels moving. TMI? Probably, but it's the truth.

I use whatever organic Costco has and a couple organic subscribe & saves on Amazon. We go to a specialty shop here in Chicago sometimes with wooden barrels of different kinds and get a bunch of 1/4lb bags of fun new coffee to try. I also like to keep an organic non-chemical extraction decaf on hand. Usually use a SS french press, but sometimes a couple different espresso methods or a glass stovetop siphon. We also have a Keurig and a Nespresso but those are only for my wife. I have higher standards.

Yep! Always rotating stock, great prices, and non-snooty environment. They have great teas too. They have really good lapsang souchong. Great place to get gifts. You can make a sample basket for like $20 that looks like it cost $100.

i f*cking love coffee, no coincidence i'm also from Seattle Peet's here is pretty good. 10 years ago hipster coffee snobs may have said Caffe Ladro in Seattle is the best, today I'm not sure

my favorite coffee experiences: -turkish coffee in instanbul -ethiopian friend's family preparing coffee for me -a good mug of drip on a rainy day in Seattle or London -shot of espresso w/ a croissant in Paris

I've heard Cuban style coffee is really good (a lot of sugar though)

ps more people in the world than you'd expect resort to drinking Nescafe, sadly. It's worse than mud

+1 for Caffe Ladro. 10 years ago I was that hipster snob saying it was the best, and although I'm a lot less shitty now than I was then, it's still my favorite.

Any recommendations on a french press and set of beans? How about cold brew sets?

I have a high caffeine tolerance so looking for a kick. Not trying to slam back 4 cups from my Keurig each morning. Amazon looks to have solid choices for both. Definitely interested to hear about beans too.

Considering that it's my favorite form of substance abuse, I like (in decreasing order): (1) Couple Turkish places all over NYC. The best one is in Astoria and it's worth the Uber ride, really. Proper coffee, made in a cezve over the hot sand can not be faked. (2) For regular consumption, Blue Bottle drip is very reasonable. (3) For home, I have a machine, but I only use it in the morning. When I am up to it, I make Turkish, though it's a pain.

I have a friend who lives in the country, and it's supposed to be an hour from 42nd Street. A lie! The only thing that's an hour from 42nd Street is 43rd Street!
