Entry-level starters

Hello WSO enthusiasts, I am new to this space and have been stirred in recent times to learn more about the world of finance. I am a junior at an average university in California and would like to know just about any tips or advice one would have for trying to apply for internships in specific areas of the office such as trading/research, asset management, risk management, and operations I thank anyone who has taken the time to read and consider. God bless.

The advice from this post is decent, but I wouldn't use this email format. Professionals in whatever industry know exactly why you're reaching out and if you say straight off the bat that you're looking to talk about open opportunities at their firm, they just aren't going to respond 7-8/10. Use something along the lines of, "I am reaching out today to see if it would be possible to set up a time to talk. As someone who has a high interest in working in X field, I would really appreciate the opportunity to hear about your current role, as well as experiences in the industry." Once you are on the phone with them and built at least somewhat of a rapport, then you may be able to push a little.

You shouldn't be looking for a job. You should be looking to learn as much as possible about the industry, in hopes of finding a job. The more you do that, the more the opportunities will present themselves.
