European/German Undergrads

First of all I am sorry for asking about a topic discussed so many times before.

I am currently a leaving student at a gymnasium —probably graduating with a 1.1/1.2— and trying to pick the best university for my aims. Obviously because I am asking here I aspire to break into finance, preferably IB or even PE if that is possible. Therefore, I think Mannheim or St. Gallen to be the very good choices, however my family is not loaded and hence I lean more towards Mannheim. Yet, I would like to know if St. Gallen's premium over Mannheim is worth it (regarding academics, placement, internships, etc.)?
Please consider that I would like to work in London (Frankfurt) or wherever the main European financial capital will be by 2021.

Next a stupid question, is a bachelor sufficient to gain ft employment or is a master needed?
Additionally, I'd like to do my master/MBA at a British (or an American) University and would like to know if I should rather study/major in BWL or VWL to maximize my chance of admission.

I appreciate any information/insight you might have! Also, if you know other good schools please let me know.
Thank you very much for reading this.

WHU is up there too but if money is going to be a problem then it's probably out of the picture. I'd say both offer similar chances but St. Gallen might be marginally better. Definitely go with BWL / Business Administration.

A bachelor could be sufficient in case you manage to land and convert a summer internship, even though I'd say master's are increasing in popularity.
