EXCEL & OFFICE ROMANCE !!!
So Goodbye drinks , Massive hangover, feel like a zombie, have to creat an excel sheet for all emerging markets issuance with at issue and current pricing / spread ....etc,, nothing bloomberg can t help you with except when their data is crap.
Being a single guy ,my mind chooses these exact moments where i am physically worn out to play tricks on me to think about the girl sitting in the next row with awesome cleavage......and then it hits me.....how can you have an office romance / friends with benefits , etc.. AND not get caught or gossiped about. I know it has to be 2 people with the same mind set, but i don t think you can trust the girl when it comes to this.
And what if you actually have a relationship with someone from the office, like a proper one , is that even permitted ?
I don t know my mind is too tired to think now, so i thought you monkeys can do the work for me !!!
I believe some companys/firms accept it others do not. Some will make you allow for HR to know that you and your co-worker are seeing each other.
Just depends...

Okay, so I am going to jack this thread for real...a little.
So I met with some guys this weekend while visiting a buddy. They all work IB, some boutiques, some BBs. Well, this one guy's gf, who looks incredibly similar to an ex of mine, is hot, so I am checking her out, etc and my buddy is talking to her...whatever. Well we were in a crowded bar so I couldn't hear much of what was going on, but a table opened up so we all went and sat down. Now I can hear the conversation.
Come to find out, she works in IB as well. The guy works a boutique, the girl at a BB (not that it really matters). Anyhow, it got me wondering. How would most dudes feel about dating a chick who worked in IB? I'm not talking smash-and-dash (they seemed rather committed to one another), I mean committed relationship with wedding bells sometime in the (far) future?
Given that you don't work in the same office nor the same firm, what are everyone's thoughts about being with someone in the same industry? Is a good thing because they understand the stress or will it always be business? Anyone with experience in this?
Regards
One person usually stops. If she's fast track to director and he's in a rut, then that's what happens. I've seen a lot of banker + consultant and banker + lawyer combos (even more than banker + hobo/leech/artist/homemaker/bimbo/bimbette(?) combos)
One person usually eases up when it's time to pop out those kids. Most of the time it's the woman. But if they're both VP level of higher at that time they usually have a decent amount of organizational clout and can work out some sort of arrangement to take a year or two offer before the kids can be put in secondary care.
Thanks for the perspective. I see the appeal in being with someone that is equally successful. Personally for me, some of the physically hotter chicks I have known that don't seem to be going anywhere pale in comparison to the 8s or 9s that are intelligent and smart. Intelligence and drive are certainly a quality I find appealing in women (last long term gf was in med school) so I could see myself being attracted to a girl working in IB as it isn't too much different from the other careers you listed.
I imagine it gets interesting when the kid conversations start to come up, especially if they are on equal footing. One of the speed bumps I saw in my last relationship was kids. Simply because I am NOT a stay at home type of person and if she was working a private practice I would imagine the down time after having the kid could really hamper business. At any rate she's gone, lol.

Haha I understand where you're coming from. There was a girl in my class-- rockstar who hit the ground running, worked in a better group than I did, and was getting noticed by all the MD's in her group.
We became pretty close, but there wasn't ever anything there. As much as I'd like a woman who is badass and internally-driven, I'd also like her to be classy and feminine. That's hard to find in banking or S&T. There are some crazy chicks in this industry though.
Haha, that is what I was sort of getting at. The job has to impact a girl's attitude and I am curious how guys would be able to handle that. I'm thinking I would have a rough time but I would be willing to give it a shot, lol.
I suppose that is the "Holy Grail" of women...badass, internally-driven, classy and feminine...and hot. I will keep my eyes peeled but something tells me they are few and far between.

As a first year, I'm pretty damn shocked at the sheer fact that there are some VERY hot female bankers in my analyst class. Shit kind of weirds me out to be honest. I was expecting nothing but dudes and manly chicks.
Just keep your fingers crossed some of them end up in your group. That way you have something recent to think about when you are rubbing one out in the stall at 3 AM.
