Fall 20 Semester Online. Should I take a gap semester?

Currently a rising junior and thinking about taking a gap semester/year because school might still be online during the fall semester, and paying full tuition for online courses isn't worth it. I'm in the process for 2021 SA but if I decide to take a gap semester before getting an offer, will that reflect badly on my application going forward? Appreciate all the comments!

Actually been thinking about the same. My school is back to campus for the fall, but the semester is going to be different (not the same experience). Doesn't really seem worth it in the end

Go for it assuming it results in no negative financial hit to you. Doing this gives you two ~4 month (gap semester and senior spring) periods to do something that interests you i.e. travel, learn a skill, pick up a hobby, play a sport, intern in a completely new and different industry, etc...

Having this free time you would gain from doing this is an extreme luxury and opportunity to explore the world/your interests that not many have the opportunity to get.

In the same boat but decided against it. I would way rather take a some time off to travel or do something a few years from now when I can actually go do things. Not worth having 6 months completely free right now when I would have nothing to do except sit around my parents house and watch Netflix. Sure, could probably find some remote internship, but don't think it would be very valuable and I think it would just feel like a massive waste of time.

My thinking is that if school is online in the fall and I don't land an IBSA gig this summer, I'm going to take the semester off and re-recruit next year and be part of the class below me. Anyone else considering this?
