Find a Job or Attempt B-School

I am a 2009 graduate that was recently laid off in April from work. The last month and a half I've been applying to many jobs (IB mostly) but have been unsuccessful thus far. In the meantime, aside from applying, I have been studying an hour or two a day for my GMAT. I take a free practice test in June and based on my results will determine how soon I want to sign up for the real test. Granted I receive a good score on the GMAT, but with only two years of professional experience (IB/PE), should I apply for January admission or trudge along and hope I can secure an IB position down the road?

Obviously I know there are many determinants such as if from now until the time I take my GMAT I get an offer, etc. but is it worth it to go to B-school with only 2 years of experience or should I continue on my job hunt and hope I get something?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Your years of work exp. are unlikely to limit your options so long as you have something to say for your experience. Schools are increasingly looking at younger applicants. Top GMAT, good undergrad GPA should have you in the running - it will be up to you to manage the rest of the application (recs, essays and interviews). Be sure you know what you want to do before going to B-school - b-school is not a place to "figure things out"

Good luck

By January admission, do you mean the January deadlines (round 2) to start full-time in the fall of 2012? Even if you are applying to schools in that timeframe, you still need to find a job don't you?

WE meaning work experience

If you are white or Asian you will find it an uphill battle getting into a top 10 bschool as there will be many similar candidates with more work experience than you. Plus, being unemployed may not look that good unless you find something "meaningful" to do, such as volunteer at a HIV orphanage or something that makes you stand out, which makes you look 100x better than all the other IB/PE/MBB analysts applying.
