Following-Up After First Round

Hey guys,

After a first-round investment banking interview, do you think it's necessary to follow up? Just to send an email thanking the interviewer for taking the time. Or is it a bit repetitive given that you just interviewed with them.

Let me know what you guys think!

Factors to consider:

  1. No harm in sending thank you emails (unless you have grammatical errors, but please don't).
  2. Some bankers may be anticipating for them, and/or other interviewees sent them so it looks slightly bad if you don't.

This is from my PERSONAL experience from interviews (Canadian banks):

  1. I have landed three banking internships and I have not sent thank you emails for any of those three.
  2. Every time I got a reply from a thank you email, I moved onto the next round.
  3. Every time I did not get a reply, I was dinged.

I don't have a preference on whether you should or not, but it's safer to send one.

This is great man, definitely some good stats here and this helps. Thank you! Definitely will be sending one just for safety after this haha
