Foros Group - any intel?
Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone has any intel / views on Foros Group. It's a small boutique bank that was launched in 2009, now with about 30 bankers. It looks like their deal activity's been on the rise - they announced 10 transactions in 2016, not bad for 30 bankers. Does anyone have any intel or views on the company, the people, the pay, culture? There's not much info out there on these guys, and I know this topic has come up once or twice before but it's been a couple of years and thought I'd revive it. Any insights would be much appreciated, thanks!
Everyone is ivy league, down to the janitor
LOL definitely true when it comes to the analysts and associates, and all the VPs went to top 10 business schools. More curious to hear if anyone has met the team and has an impression of what their group is like, insights on pay, hours, etc.
Met a couple VPs and spoke with an associates there. Base is 100K for first yr analyst. The people seem nice.
Any expanded thoughts based on your interaction with them, as far as deal flow / culture / any other observations?
Can't comment on deal flow. The questions during interview I got were mostly behavioral. It's hard to exit to MF PE, based on my past linkedin research, since it is not really well known. They are very selective; they interviewed more than 20 people at my school and only gave offer to one.
Foros was a great shop in the past. But its founder left and their head guy (who's bringing in >66% of deal flow) is retiring soon.
Bump. Would anyone take a Foros offer over an offer at a solid MM shop (think Baird, Houlihan, Blair, etc)?
Bump
not that i have an offer from Foros, but wanted to weigh in based on my interview experience. thought the people would be great to work with and I can sense that associates at the firm would 100% be willing to provide guidance in ones career
definitely agreed, really liked everyone i met and would easily take over MM considering the large deal sizes and way above street comp. small boutique also means very very good exp for analysts
Any updates?
Have a first-round with them next week. Any ideas and guidance would be very appreciated!
For FT or lateral? How’d u get in the pRocess? I know a guy that used to work there who said it’s really tough but rewarding (ultimately quit bc WL balance). Interviews probably follow that theme lol.
