FP&A vs. Boring work at PE
FP&A at a makeup beauty company or doing record keeping and custody at a large PE firm for this summer?
I didn't get anything for the 2019 summer, I made it to super days and interviews but always got cut the final round and it's brutal.
My friend said to continue my spring internship doing records and custody at the PE firm and build finance skills (I'm a liberal arts college student).
Alternatively got offered a internship at Aflac but I don't want to give banks for 2020 the impression that that is my path. I thought FP&A is somewhat related to building out skills but it is a makeup company, not a bank.
Any input would be helpful - I started to take initiative in learning and enrolled myself in prep courses.
Depending on the company you can get a lot finance experience from FP&A, it would probably be more stimulating than the PE work you were describing
What is the Aflac internship?
I personally feel like experience trumps industry unless it's a crazy brand name. What is the Aflac internship cuz at the end of the day it's how you spin the internship.
You already have the PE internship. Are they going to be giving you substantially different responsibilities and/or exposure in the near future? If not, shift to the FP&A gig for a minute. Learn different skills and in my opinion strenghten your resume.
