I think this change is a lot easier than people think it is. I've seen quite a few people on this forum suggest that the move from debt to equity is basically impossible. Anecdotally, I've seen younger guys go from your standard vanilla RE lending teams making ~$65k-$80k all in to firms including the likes of Starwood and Carlyle making almost $200K all in (NYC). It's definitely not impossible. Reach out to alumni and network your ass off, same way you would to get any other new job.

 

Appreciate the insight. This is something I am struggling with as I am slowly approaching the age and experience level where I should apply to associate roles. But due to the lack of such roles, and abundance of analyst roles, I'm having a hard time justifying applying to another analyst role when I know I'm associate level. Especially when that would be my third analyst position.
