GMAT and Harvard 2+2
I just took my GMAT and had some concerns and wanted to see if anyone could give me some odds and advice on the HBS 2+2 program (or similar deferred admissions programs at GSB and Sloan).
Stats:
School: Top public (think Michigan, Berkeley, UVa)
GMAT: 740 (49Q, 41V, 8 IR)
Major: Engineering
GPA: 3.9
Internships: one in engineering one in ops, not looking to go into either industry post grad
There is more that I can list about extracurriculars/internship experience, but the main questions I have are do these baseline stats make me competitive for the program and if anyone knows of someone with similar stats getting in? Also, would it be worth it to take my GMAT again to try and bring up the quant (its only 74th percentile right now, verbal is high so thats the only reason I got a 740). I know no one can give a perfect evaluation on this information, more just looking if anyone has an idea of if this profile lines up with deferred admissions programs and can give any insight on the GMAT score breakdown. The GMAT is more of a tick the box test so there's incredibly diminished returns in scoring above your 740, especially given your very high GPA in a tough major. I would definitely think you have the baseline stats already and a higher GMAT wouldn't change anything. Keep in mind though that these deferred admission programs are extremely competitive and are supposed to be geared toward non-traditional applicants so not sure what your plan is post graduation but that's going to play a part in how you are viewed. Also, being a white / asian dude really plays against you.
