Goldman Sachs Asset Management (Institutional Sales)

Hi everyone,

I have been scheduled for an interview for a summer internship position at GSAM (Institutional Sales). There isn’t much information online regarding this particular team (institution sales) within GSAM and I was wondering if anyone could provide me a rough idea of this particular team within the division. Namely, what is the purpose of this team, what are the daily responsibilities of a sales analyst within GSAM, main difference between this team and the investments strategies team and perhaps what are the exit opportunities like. Thank you so much!

sounds like you would be training to be an internal wholesaler. Imagine calling and trying to set up meetings with FAs for your external. Think Bud Fox, but selling to advisors, not little old ladies. The pay isn't bad most places, but the job is rough. GS is a big name though, so it'll probably be easier than most places.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
