Google Stategy v/s Private Equity

After reading all those interesting posts on WSO - I thought I need to get involved, and am starting out with my very first post:

I have a summer intern offers from Google Inc. in CA and a small HK based PE firm. The latter does not have a structured intern program , while I'm almost certain of getting a FT from Google.

I wish to work in IB as a FT Analyst but lack prior banking experience
Guys, PE firm seems a bit risky (though I'm willing to take my chances!), based on your experience - what is better?

Google has some of the best perks known to man. However, the working abroad factor is definitely a plus for the PE shop. Ultimately I think I would go Google, but I am tech-biased and see that as my career path. Odds are if you go work in Google you're most likely to end up in a tech group at a bank, whereas the PE shop may give you broader options.

One other thing to consider is that PE shops have been dead quiet of late. Not that Google's stock or earnings have been phenomenal lately either, but I would bet you will have a better chance at real exposure with Google than a PE shop.

Oh wow! 3 responses in just 12 hours.... you guys rock!! I think the Google thing is more internally focussed, as far as I'm told, think ops-kinda work At the HK firm, the deal flow seems to be quite good, in past 6 months they had some significant transactions

My only concern is this: For FT, if you were sifting through resumes, would ANY banking experience (PE) be considered to be better than ZERO experience (Google)? Also, while Google was via campus recruiting, I got my way into the PE firm by junk mailing/phone calls/etc.

I did Corp strategy and development at a F500 much less prestigious than Google and got several BB offers coming from a nontarget. Plus the strategy gig would look phenomenal for a consulting firm like McKinsey or Bain if you have some interest there. Or you just might love Google and choose to live the good life with them
