Goldman Industrials Info?
Hello - trying to get some background on the GS Global Industrials Team. Obviously this is a very broad sector but if anyone can shed some light on the structure, quality, deal flow, etc I'd appreciate it.

I had a close friend start his analyst stint at GS Ind NYC - based on his experience, the team was an absolute sweatshop but has very strong dealflow and great exit opps.
Heard negative things about the group culture, but idk if I've ever heard of an Industrials coverage group having an exceptionally good culture at any bank...lol
Great experience, awful culture
Phenomenal in terms of deal flow — you will be fucking miserable.
Sweaty group. Mentally prepare yourself. You don't go there for culture reasons.
Universal answer for every Goldman coverage group: strong deal flows, toxic culture, good exits, sweat shop
This. For some reason I think undergrads think there’s some magical group out there that has impeccable dealflow with low hours and great culture. In reality, good group with strong dealflow means long hours and a grind as an analyst
I think the hours aren’t all that different. I’m at another BB (low tier) in a solid group and work 9:30-midnight m-th 9:30-8-midnight in Friday and anywhere from 5-10 hours on Sunday, on average. Even when on just pitching
wait is every GS product group sweaty....like is there one thats has a good culture and chill or is that just the GS IB culture overall
Overall GS culture blows from my friends (one in TMT other on FIG)
Heard FIG Chicago is good, while Chicago industrials Is brutal
Above posters are an understatement. Avoid at all costs - worst group at GS in terms of culture and massive junior turnover issues
Source: 3-4 friends in the group who are miserable and want to quit everyday
Same applies to GS IND EMEA.
Wish I had seen this thread sooner, SMH
They all seem miserable. I’d avoid or accept you’re doing it for 1-2 years for the deal flow then dip
Not worth it at all in my opinion when there are equally good groups which provide similar exits.
SA here right now this group has been a living nightmare, seniors are intense and don’t give a f***k about the juniors and or whatever life they have outside the job.
it’s not worth the exit opps or deal flow, you will actually go insane.
Care to provide more detail?
Also currently a SA in the industrials group. You will be fucking miserable. If you have the option to choose another group or bank, I would. Not worth it at all.
I have barely slept and am borderline having health issues because of this fucking group. Why live this way?
