What are people who are out of OPT and didn’t get the H1B doing?
STEM OPT gives you two more tries I’m pretty sure.
Assuming you don’t have STEM OPT so can’t use an extension.
You could get a transfer to Toronto and then get back to the US on the L visa or, if all requirements are met, try the E visa.
Or you could enter another degree on F1, jobs within research/development, universities, non-profits and similar should be cap exempt on H.
Whatever you do, please try to avoid Day1-OPT.
L1 is not a slam dunk by any means, btw
Does STEM OPT work for banking?
STEM OPT is based off skills, not content. In this regard any job that requires high qualifications (banking included) will do. The type of jobs they won’t let you do is working fast food and the likes.
Stop spreading false info, stem opt is based on your college major. If you’re a finance/history/etc major you only get year worth of Opt, some master of finance programs are stem certified but as far as undergrad finance goes it’s almost always non-stem.

Undergrad non-stem, got extremely lucky and was notified on Monday. First lottery too. Hope things work out for everyone else!
Wow so lucky. I will be applying in the 2022 lottery for H1B and also don't have STEM-OPT so hoping to get as lucky as you did today.
Next year might be based on prevailing wages instead of a lottery system, which could be really good/bad for IB analysts depending on what the new levels of prevailing wages end up being
First lottery, I didn't get it. That's ok, I'll save on medicare and social security for at least another year.
if i'm canadian and didn't get lottery should i ask my firm to get me on a TN?
TN should be the easiest to get, although it is no longer "as easy" as before. There are reports of Canadians who ran into issues at the border, check with your legal team at the firm what the next steps are. Chances are that you are not the only Canadian working at this company. What are they doing for the others, what are options, etc.

Is there way to apply for H1B when you're a senior in college if you have your FT offer locked in so that you get 2 shots even on a 1 year OPT?
Most people do this and apply twice
Do you know what the procedure is or what the logic behind it is? I am a junior right now but, fingers crossed, I am expecting a full-time offer from my IB SA internship. My international services office sucks so will probably have to make sure I know what I am asking about before I go to them.
