Has anyone regretted going to a top mba to get into IB?

I graduated in spring 2016 from a state school in SoCal. Baseball was my top priority at the time and I was the first to receive a finance degree in my family, so I was unaware of the importance of a top school at the time. I also had no idea about IB or PE until after I graduated.

I'm currently at an alternative investment consulting firm in a back office role and have been networking pretty intensively for ~1 year now with little to show. I have been heavily debating applying to b-school next year as it seems like the path of least resistance into a job that will provide better experience and opportunities. I know all the typical pros/cons of going down that route but I am curious if anyone has actually regretted getting there MBA? Whether they weren't able to end up in the career they wanted or if they think they could have reached where they want to be without the MBA? I would love to hear any thoughts/stories/opinions.

Thank you all!
