Hedge Fund Exits
I've seen often that people end up going PE -->HF. Wouldn't the opposite make sense, too? I would think that sifting through tons of information on companies and making investment decisions in a fast paced environment alongside modeling would make HF associates ideal candidates for PE/VC.
Currently considering HF, but I do not want to work in the industry long-term. I would want to gather extensive knowledge about the industry I am interested in. Let me know any thoughts and thanks.
HF -> PE is not doable for those who have never done IB because they would lack real transaction experience.
But it makes sense for those who have?
Sure. Say an IB'er who explored HF first and realized (s)he prefers PE, yeah. Only problem is that person is not a more attractive candidate to the analyst who is exploring PE straight from IB.
Agree with the above. Without IB, you would really have no idea the process behind doing deals. I think HF to growth equity or VC is possible though (if you cover tmt/consumer).
