Help me decide if I would be wasting my time. (Internship)

If I have an interest in Asset Management , investment banking (investments whether it's buy side or sell side) how could an internship in financial planning help me build a resume? I have an opportunity to do an internship for the summer with Waddell & Reed in financial planning, but would this help my resume at all?

I understand it's coming down the wire for summer internships and I could really use something this summer...any thoughts?

I'm a junior.I just recently enrolled in my school's coop program, but I'm a little late in the summer game so most internship positions are already filled for the summer. So I could do one next year during the spring or fall.

I'm pretty sure it would be for credits, but I don't need the credits that badly. I would prefer it to be paid.

However I'm most concern on what would look good on my resume.

From my experience, you can spin any decent internship into a legit resume builder. Just try to learn as much as you can, take on responsibility, and develop your financial skills. Then make sure to spin the bullets on the resume to sound like stuff that bankers do, and you'll have a decent opportunity (given you go to a good school and have a strong GPA). If you don't go to a target, have a low GPA, and little relevant experience, then your chances are slim to none.
