Hedge Fund Conflict of Interest
Hi guys! I'm part-time interning at a L/S Hedge fund this semester and I needed opinions on a potential conflict of interest... I'm also interviewing for an on campus organization at my school that manages a long-only part of our endowment (I would be an analyst covering a sector) in addition to interviewing at another off-campus student organization that uses an L/S strategy in investing(when I join I would be in an education program they have for 6 months but still able to pitch stocks). Should I withdraw from my interviews at the latter or former? How bad do you think this conflict of interest is?
Thanks!!!
I would talk to the employer about what they’re comfortable with.
I will do that thank you!
If you can maintain involvement in the club without pitching ideas or voting during while you’re working w/ the fund it would probably be fine, id ask.
it would probably even fine as long as the ideas/portfolio don’t overlap at all. It’s worth an ask
Thanks for the advice I will ask!
I intern at a L/S fund and am part of a student club that manages a bit of money. I can't pitch, vote, or invest money into the student fund but I can be a member and debate investments and all that. I'd assume your restrictions would be similar, just talk to the club about whether there could be a spot for you given these limits.
