Any advice on how to break through to a HF and bypass the useless HR screeners? I have exact experience that managers are looking for, but I find that Hr doesn’t even know what any of the things on my CV are.
Where do you look for HF postings to make it in even as a support function to begin?

My thoughts/advice:
1) be critical of your resume and consider that you are probably wrong: this may be different at smaller/less reputable funds, but in general HR does know what to look for. Maybe there is something about your specific circumstances that make you think that’s different than most, but in general HR partners with the investors to understand their needs and they do a reasonable job on this. That’s not to say they always get it right, but I would consider that you may not be positioning your resume well and it needs some work (or you aren’t making it stand out and be relatable to those in the industry)
2) network: if what you say is true, reach out to alumni, friends, acquaintances, etc in the field and talk about your interests and your value add. I wouldn’t recommend emailing the PM directly but always something to pull as a long shot
3) finally, the industry is incredibly competitive, so research the funds you are interested in and make sure you tailor your approach to their fund/strategy/etc.
